MSIP - Team Results for Peoria Unified School District

The partnership between the Peoria Unified School District in Peoria, Arizona and Arizona State University's Mars Education Program began in Spring of 2007 with the implementation of the Mars Student Imaging Project into the 9th grade Integrated Science course. MSIP is approximately 1/4 of the course curriculum and works to develop science inquiry and research skills in the classroom.

The PUSD model has been modified from the traditional MSIP program to meet the needs of a very large school system. In the PUSD model, teachers complete the project as a hybrid of the Independent Research program and the On-Site program. Students complete the entire project in class at their home school and a representative group of students from each team are brought to the ASU campus to present the final team results to one of our Mars scientists here on staff at the Mars Space Flight Facility.

On average each year, PUSD has 5,000 students involved in the project at their home school and approximately 200 students will come to ASU to present their team results.
